Make a Difference: Help Prevent Crime
- Be a positive role model.
- In school, take part in violence prevention and conflict resolution programs or activities. Promote or help establish drug-free and weapon-free zones. Report vandalism. Start a School Watch program modeled on the Neighborhood Watch idea.
- In your community, get to know your neighbors and learn ways to protect each other from crime and violence. Participate in Neighborhood Watch. Join a graffiti removal team. Report suspicious individuals to the police.
- Talk to younger kids about resisting substance abuse and peer pressure. Encourage them to follow personal safety rules and to use their energy in positive ways.
