Deployment: Kuwait

Environmental factors posing the greatest health risk (in descending order) to forces deployed to Kuwait include:
  • water contaminated with raw sewage and industrial waste (primarily from refineries),
  • localized air and soil contamination,
  • extreme heat (May through September), and
  • frequent dust and sand storms (heaviest in May through September).

Pre-deployment immunizations for all personnel include Hepatitis A, MMR, Td, Influenza and Typhoid. Selected personnel may require other vaccines as dictated by appropriate medical authority. There is no risk of malarial infection.
