Deployment: Saudi Arabia

Environmental factors posing the greatest health risk (in descending order) to forces deployed to Saudi Arabia include:
  • A water supply that is limited and contaminated from raw sewage, industrial wastes, and frequent oil spills.
  • Temperature extremes and intense sunlight.
  • Frequent dust storms (most severe from March to August).
  • Localized air pollution.

Pre-deployment immunizations for all personnel include Hepatitis A, MMR, Td, Influenza and Typhoid. Selected personnel may require other vaccines as dictated by appropriate medical authority. Malaria risk is variable.
