MISSION Support the warfighter and the industrial base by providing occupational health expertise in the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of chemical, physical, and entomological stressors.
We enhance Army readiness by:
- Providing entomological services to support the control of disease vectors and pests while reducing the use of pesticides.
- Assessing radiofrequency (RF) sources to protect personnel from overexposure to RF in tactical, training, and maintenance environments.
- Ensuring that Army personnel are not exposed to ocular or skin health hazards during RDT&E of military systems that use high intensity optical sources and by assuring that proper controls are in place to prevent overexposure to laser/optical radiation during operation of laser/optical targeting systems.
- Providing expertise to protect Soldiers, their environment and the general public from health hazards associated with ionizing radiation sources.
- Recognizing and controlling exposure to hazardous occupational stressors (chemicals, noise, temperature extremes, ergonomics) that contribute to illness and injury.
- Providing medical safety information and guidance to protect health care providers during contingency operations and in the sustainment base.
- Identifying and eliminating or controlling health hazards associated with the life cycle management of weapons, equipment, clothing, training devices, material, and information systems.
