16th Annual Military and Civilian Combat Stress Conference

This year's conference will be on an Integrative Approach In Working With Combat Stress Related Problems. One of the major Integrative Medicine programs in the country, Scripps Center For Integrative Medicine in La Jolla California, will be providing several guest speakers discussing how their specialty is effective in working with various Combat Stress related problems. Other topics will also be discussed.
This annual multi-disciplinary event brings the leading mental health professionals and chaplains in the military together to share their clinical expertise dealing with combat stress. The attendees of the conference will gain the clinical acumen and skills necessary to respond to the psychological, mental and spiritual needs of Soldiers experiencing various acts of combat stress. Further, through the conference, attendees can attain certification in the core elements of a comprehensive, systematic and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum and debriefing techniques (i.e., critical incident stress, CIS instruction).
This is an approved Association of Military Surgeons of the United States (AMSUS) event for all Tri-Service Branches of the Military and DoD members. This is a Western and Pacific (WE-PAC) AMSUS Chapter approved and sponsored event.
Protocols for CIS training: Basic Group, then Individual Crisis Intervention & Peer Support is required before any other advance level courses. |

Force Health Protection - Prevention is the Key 11th Annual Force Health Protection Conference

MCBC - This 6 ½-day course, Medical Management of Chemical and Biological Casualties (MCBC), 6H-F26, is conducted jointly by the US Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD) and the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID). The course is designed for Medical Corps and Nurse Corps officers, Physician Assistants, Medical Service Corps officers in specialties 67B,C, or E, and other medical professionals. Classroom instruction, laboratory and field exercises prepare graduates to effectively manage casualties of chemical and biological agent exposure.
FCBC - This 5 day course, Field Management of Chemical and Biological Casualties Course (FCBC), is conducted by the US Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Classroom discussion includes the current global threat; characteristics, recognition and emergency treatment of agent exposure, triage, and decontamination; and small-group exercises to reinforce casualty management principles. Laboratory and field training provide hands-on experience in treatment, contamination site management, personal protection, and other agent emergency response and rescue procedures.

USACHPPM Medical Waste Transport

In this course, students learn to identify and classify hazardous materials; prepare and package RMW; prepare and certify RMW manifests based on Federal, State and International requirements; and learn safety/emergency response procedures required when transporting RMW. A certification test is administered at the end of the course.
This course is designed to housekeeping and medical facilities personnel who ship regulated medical waste ONLY. Laboratorians should not register for this course.

The 15th Annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day 2008

On the same day across the U.S., 150,000+ older adults will participate in health promotion events at more than 1,000 local organizations. Senior Health & Fitness Day, the nation's largest older adult health & fitness event, is entering its 15th year. Another three million older adults will read special Senior Day editorial inserts in local senior newspapers in major markets.
Any local organization interested in the health and fitness of older adults is eligible to host a National Senior Health & Fitness Day event. Each local group, however, must register by purchasing the registration packet available by calling 1-800-828-8225.
